Learning Italian at the Italian School of Lusaka

The Italian School of Lusaka still maintains its strong bonds with Italy and the Italian language is taught from the Reception class to Grade 11.

Through the Primary school, learners are engaged in Italian lessons, gradually increasing their familiarity with the language. When students join the secondary section, they not only consolidate the basics of the Italian language but also get introduced to aspects of Italian culture, society and history. In particular, students that enroll in the Italian IGCSE programme, at the end of this cycle, are able to understand and communicate simple tasks on familiar topics and activities.

All Italian teachers are Italian native speakers.

The Italian School of Lusaka also offers to students that are enrolled in the Senior High section of the Secondary school, a trip to Italy. This is a very unique opportunity to visit Italy and its well-known artistic and historical heritage. Traditionally the trip offers a first-hand experience of the beauty of the most famous Italian cities such as Rome, Florence, Venice and Milan, just to mention a few. Students who previously participated in these educational trips, tell enthusiastically that they were able to apply their Italian language skills in real life situations and enjoyed exploring what they have learnt in the classroom.

Moreover, The Italian School of Lusaka in collaboration with the Zambian-Italian Cultural Centre, organises annual events with visiting Italian artists who hold engaging artistic workshops for all the students of the school.
